friday clean up

After looking at the mess on my cutting table, I decided when i got home from my lunch today, that it was time to clean up.I spent a good part of my afternoon winding some skeins of hand dyed cottons and putting it into a new organizer box. They were haphazardly stuffed into a can where they were starting to commingle with their friends! I was able to get 2 boxes worth of cottons into one. That felt good.

I also rinsed, dried and ironed my snow dye fabrics. I sort of regret putting the bit of blue in but I'm sure I'll use it for something. I'm feeling like maybe I should do some more. The dyes that I am using are really old and I'm limited in the colors. I'm quite surprised at the intensity I've been getting; still I think I should try to use it up. I tried taking pictures in different rooms with different light but the colors still come out more purple toned than they actually are. They're more orangey to than they appear.

At the grocery store I ran into a friend who was trying to make up her mind which flowers to buy. Since they were half price I joined her. I'm sure it took about 15 minutes to choose these. I love the bright colors. Thanks Wendy for opting out of the lovely green ones. Did you do that on purpose?
I wish everyone a lovely weekend!

Sounds like you had a great day Holly. it was a real spring day here...the snow is disappearing very quickly. We had a few robins in the yard this afternoon too....a very nice feeling.

The snow dyes look great. I'm surprised how intense they are too. I think you better hurry before the snow is gone and get some more done.

I love the flowers. I won a bouquet at the wedding shower 2 weeks ago and it is just starting to look a little droopy. flowers sure brighten the spirits.

The yarns look very happy in their containedness! All the colours are saying Spring!

Sounds like a fun day! Your snow-dyes are truly gorgeous. I would love to see them in "real" life. :)

Taking photos of art is really tough! I have been photographing at night in the house and no matter which white balance I choose, the colours just come out wrong. Maybe tomorrow, in the sunshine, I will get better colour. The surroundings matter a lot too and some colours are just harder to photograph than others. We appreciate the pictures anyway, Holly!
