Joy in the little bits of daily life

I awakened this morning heavy headed, achy and saddened by the events of the world. It is my day to do my lap swim so I made my tea and drove my husband to work. At the spa, I was rewarded with the sun shining through the windows and sparkling on the water. I was alone in the quiet salt water and sauna for most of my visit.
I've had a snippet of time to dabble with my art pieces, adding some colour to one with the Neocolor II crayons and I cut out a few circles to fuse onto it. This was a print that dint take the paint well and there was a lot of white.

And I cut out one more little leaf to add to the one I was working on yesterday. I don't have time to sew today, but it feels good to walk in the studio and make even a few little pieces.
This afternoon, I'm going to tutor my adult student who is studying to finish her high school. I enjoy working with her as she is upbeat and determined. We get on well together.

I feel better now.

I found your blog through a post on Facebook. I've really enjoyed looking through. I am also a textile artist but I paint with dyes and live on the other side of the country in BC. Did you attend Quilt Canada in Halifax? I was there at the Vendors' Mall. eileengidman.blogspot.com

Holly, I've been feeling the same sadness over recent events. Yesterday my son told me of a comedian who tweeted that when these terrible events occur we need to remember that there are many more good caring people in the world than bad ones. Even as we feel the sadness, we need to keep creating beauty and spreading kindness. Thanks for your post.
